Back to reality on Saturday and we should go into it with some confidence. Duffy has a slight selection dilemma now, with only Pepper out injured.

We now have plenty options at the back and in midfield. I'd go for

Gaston

Doyle Gunning Oware Russell

Forbes Lindsay Murdoch Nesbitt

Oliver Quitongo

McNeil
Kilday
Lamie
Tidser
Kudus
Tiffoney
Scullion.

Fancy us strongly, 3-0.

I'd give Gunning a rest for this and keep him fit for the Skunks game 3 days later. Expect Forbes to come in for Oyenuga and possibly Nesbitt in for McDonagh. I'd also still go with McNeil in goal - don't think he's done anything deserving of being dropped.

Ayr fans on P&B saying they should bring a decent crowd. Hopefully we'll get a few more in our end after yesterday.

Incredible difference in the mood around the club compared to our last meeting with Ayr. If we're going to build on our revival since then and make a credible playoff challenge we need to be winning games like this.

Definitely get Forbes and Nesbitt in for Oyenuga and McDonagh. O'Ware's done nothing wrong in his time in defence, and indeed our upturn in form coincides with him moving there, but if Kilday's fully fit it's hard to justify leaving him out. Though Gunning may well be struggling again.

At the age of 32, Alexander of Macedonia wept salt tears, for there were no more worlds to conquer.

Gavin Gunning is only 25.

We really, really need to be taking six points from these two games. Though a draw here and win on Tuesday I'd probably still bite your hand off for. Gunning should be rested.

That is a good shout about Gunning although I thought he might have done his hamstring near the end of the game as he was limping a bit.

I prefer Gaston but we do need consistency. So if Duffy is not going to reinstate Gaston then it has to be McNeil for the rest of the season (barring injury).

I thought McNeil could've done better at both goals on Saturday. Nothing massive but it adds to my uncertainty about him.

Got to rest Gunning if he's to make the Midden game, that 90 at hampden will of taken its toll and it was clear to see early on he wasn't completely happy with his hamstring, and he was struggling near the end. What a signing he's been, outstanding.

I won't be happy unless we have another 5-0 swording or better.  The bar has been raised.  That game at Palmerston really was an astounding performance and 5-0 flattered them.  I reckon the team has gelled, and the main change recently seems to be the introduction of Murdoch.  I'd be looking to extend his short term contract, particularly with Tidser's apparent fragility.  We are becoming good to watch after a period of rather dull stuff, and at last we seem to be playing on the ground a lot of the time.

Regarding Kudus, on Saturday he was winning a lot of headers and doing his best, but Forbes instead of him would have improved the team in terms of creating chances.  I'm not sure that Kudus was comfortable in that sort of left midfield role - is he not a striker?  Not that you would know it from his one powderpuff attempt on Saturday when he mis-hit the ball.

Agree with this. Murdoch looks like he will be a real good player for us, good on tha ball and has a bit of dig about him, him, Lindsay and Forbes is a very good midfield 3.

Is there really a place for the old commercial regime when (if) she returns?

We've made great strides commercially under a seemingly new regime. Long may it continue.

Smiths out, next, please.

I'd like to see this with Gaston in goal and the front 3 interchanging. 3-0 after 60 minutes and bring Tidser on to close it out/ affirm our dominance please. A comfortable win without giving them a sniff will get the confidence going for the midden.
