Morton 3 -1 St Midden
Absolutely fantastic performance from our under 20s today. With a 15 year old goalkeeper and centre back we won through after a mighty fight from our kids.
Not a failure in our team. Young keeper made up for his lack of stature with a couple of fine saves and Ben Docherty and Nathan Durham at centre backs were excellent and protected him well.
Special mention for Ben Armour. 2 great goals and led the line well all day.
St Mirren are a gang. Their right back got away with a shocking challenge in 1st half and then got a red for an even worse one in the 2nd. They lost their discipline totally with 3 red cards.
But that shouldn't deflect from our kids performance.
I then took in the last hour of our 17s v Ross county at parklea.
7-3 win for the ton. And they're top of the league now.
Great days entertainment
Still not good enough for project brave?
Away and gies piece.

I think it’s been well documented before that it’s not just results the make us eligible for that.
The Motherwell chief executive was saying they could barely afford to be in the top section, so I doubt we would be able to.

As I understand it we are appealing to get into the second section, not the top one. Currently we're ranked 17th, I think, and we need to be 16th to get into the second tier.

What cotter doesn't seem to understand is that if we base the tiers (and thus grants) simply around youth results then the larger, richer clubs will just hoover up the best players rather than focus on the facilities and coaches that they're currently spending on. If anything simply bringing a youth player to, say, Motherwell is probably a hell of a lot cheaper than jumping through all the other hoops.

That said, I think we are a borderline case for tier 2 and since the club is aiming for it, I hope we can get in.

Now before Gavin goes, I'd like to ask him one more question.

I was being a bit sarcastic in my closing comment. I know we are appealing.
I just think we have a few decent players in our academy set up. It really was good to watch how well we played today. Great achievement for us today

No both his goals were from open play. We got our 1st when langan hit bar from spot and Eardly headed in rebound.

Hopefully Jai gets a good hour or so without any issues. Maybe available for the bench at the weekend?

2-1 now, Langan got the second goal. Jamie McGowan forced off through injury, centre half Ruaridh Langan replaces him in goal as we used three subs!

Finished 2-1. Decent performance and played well throughout. Both teams finished with 10 men. Them for a red card and us for McGowan going off after a nasty collision

According to Twitter McGowan has dislocated his shoulder. Looked a nasty one. Was a pity as he's been playing well. Hopefully not out for long

Jai and Tidser did well. But I'm really impressed with Reece Lyons. Boy looks a talent

Away to Ayr Utd tonight. At cumnock juniors at 8pm.
I'd imagine with injuries we'll have a few of 17s in squad tonight. So might be interesting

Lost 2-1. Wasn't a great game. Both teams worked hard but not much in way of chances in 1st half apart from an Ayr penalty that looked very soft to me which they scored from.
We had a few chances and Carracher made a couple of decent saves . Before we finally equalised after a bit of ping pong in the box. Was at the far end so couldnt quite see who it was. I thought ben armour but apparently it was Reece Lyons
Then Nathan Durham saw red for a last man challenge despite winning the ball clearly. Very poor decision for me.
Ayr went ahead with 2nd penalty which looked a clear push for me.
We battled away but couldn't get an equaliser.
Best for me were Durham and mcgrattan
