Was anybody seriously expecting anything else?

I did. i expected a decent performance. Suppose that was daft.  That was a team that got rolled over and it was far too easy for England. Strachan really must go away now.

There were a few positives but when it came down to it we conceded too easily and didn't even test Hart despite good chances. Powderpuff at the end of the day.

Strachan needs to go.

Now before Gavin goes, I'd like to ask him one more question.

Strachan's ludicrous shtick about being concerned about sending the players home in a good state of mind is mindboggling nonsense in the context of another dead qualifying campaign.  He was faux angry about being asked about his own position when he really should have had the dignity to GTF.

It really has gotten to the stage that my apathy and indifference to the national team is so overwhelming that I wasn't even slightly disappointed by the England result.

Aye, our position as a European and global diddy outfit seems pretty secure for some time to come, particularly since there is an acceptance of failure from the top brass and to some extent in the media too.  The implicit message seems to be, we're Scotland, we're pish, whit else do ye expect?

This isn't hugely germane to the subject at hand, but you know how we don't bother arranging friendlies because that's too much like hard work? ****ing Estonia is on a tour of the Caribbean right now. No doubt if Scotland ever proposed a tour, be it for team-building or ranking or any other reason, it'd be written off by moping midwits as too expensive or a luxury or whatever.

Now before Gavin goes, I'd like to ask him one more question.

Iv never understood our lack of interest in friendlies & when we do play them, we seem to just pull the bloody names out a hat. The one thing I always think about international football, is the closer you can get your team to feel like a club team, the better & I strongly believe a good international manager is a whole different skill set from a club one. We should be playing as many friendlies as we can to get the team gelling & bonding and once we see the draws for our qualifying groups we should be aiming to play similar level teams in friendlies as practice. For England, I would have tried to play Wales or Ireland, for Slovakia & Slovenia I would have aimed for someone like Serbia, Montenegro etc.

Utter bollocks, the SFAs policy on 'friendlies' is merely to relieve 20,000 supporters of their cash against s*** teams who end up beating us, learning nothing in the process.

In saying that, we've not played Finland, Hungary or Israel in a long time.

Have you re-read it? If so, it will be self explanatory.

Scotland never seem to learn anything from friendlies. And England are a good bit better than Northern Ireland and Wales, despite recent form.

Not really sure what your on about it, you seem to be agreeing with me after shouting about something being utter bollocks. Also not 100% sure why your mentioning Northern Ireland either. Defo time for your scratcher, that's plenty beers in you for tonight

I can see both points, we pick random teams but when we do play them it's all about selling tickets, there's no real strategy or thought beyond fleecing the bumpkins. There are folk out there who can calculate the optimum friendlies to rise up the rankings and we should be doing that.

Now before Gavin goes, I'd like to ask him one more question.

That's the point I was trying to make, whoever arranges our friendlies just seems to pick the names at random, Nigeria in London, Norway away, Croatia away etc.

We should be playing as many as we can but only if they are useful from a competitive or ranking perspective

This has puzzled me for years and I've never been able to fathom what we are trying to achieve with our friendly selection. It certainly has done less than nothing in terms of improving our quality, playing options or standing.
