So the signing makes absolute sense if lamie were to leave in January as gasporotto would be a starting centre back.

Agreed and when Barr was signed it was on the basis of being a Development Squad coach, not as first team back-up. The very fact of having to use him demonstrates our current shortage of options in that area.

Sorry my "Agreed" was to VT's post I should have quoted it.

Didn’t Hamilton try and re-sign Kilday as well and he knocked them back? Couldn’t begrudge Lamie wanting a chance at the Premiership, but there’s a very decent chance Hamilton won’t actually be in it, would be surprised to see him sigh a PCA.

I suggest he has more chance of Premiership football at Hamilton than he has if he stays at Morton

I could be wrong, but is suspect that teams will be watching a player like Lamie over the course of a season. He's only relatively recently established himself as first choice in his position at this level, and teams might not want to rush into any deals. It's no surprise that teams are watching him, but I doubt there will be a rush to sign him.

Wouldn't be surprised if O'Ware starts in midfield on Tuesday, with Lamie partnered by Gasparotto at the back.

Let's hope not. Duffy surely learned that this just doesn't work

You'd think so, but which one of O'Ware, Gasparotto or Lamie will he leave on the bench?

There's also the option of benching/shifting Mark Russell and playing Lamie at left back, which I wouldn't be against.

I was having similar, scary thoughts myself. It wouldn't surprise me one bit given our lack of options in midfield at the minute.

Duffy also said in his latest interview that Gasparotto can play the defensive midfield role.

O’Ware might get put at RB? Or Lamie moved to LB and Luca & O’Ware playing in the middle.

We did that away at Celtic and it was a complete disaster.

Aye but Duffy chose the most idiotic gane to experiment with it. Considering our natural lack of width it could be a good shout.

Who would be the right-wing back in that scenario? You're either shifting Murdoch out of position which leaves us even more exposed in the middle of the park despite the extra man, putting Tiffoney there and giving him a lot of defensive responsibility we don't know if he can handle, giving Doyle a lot more attacking responsibility we know he can't handle or putting someone like Forbes or Harkins in a position where their lack of mobility would be even more problematic than it is now.

Wing back is a specialist position and playing a back three is a different role for centre backs as well. When you've got three centre backs who are only familiar with playing in a two you can't just chuck them all into a three on a whim - it takes practice to prepare them for that and make them comfortable with their role. While one of the issues was just Celtic being better than us, half the problem was simply none of them knowing who was meant to be doing what and their positional sense collectively evaporating - that would have seen us leaking goals against anyone.
